The Blank Slate, one of the most eagerly awaited electric vehicles of 2025, is preparing for its official unveiling next week. Slate Auto has crafted this pickup truck with a minimalist philosophy, aiming to reduce the overall cost of ownership by stripping away unnecessary features. For instance, even electric windows are offered as an optional upgrade, which reflects the company’s commitment to straightforward utility.
A significant factor driving interest in the Blank Slate is its pricing strategy. With a compact design and no complex infotainment system, it appeals to those looking for a practical yet modern vehicle. However, the truck's 150-mile (241 km) range could deter potential buyers if the price point is too high. Originally, Slate Auto aimed for a starting price around $20,000, banking on the continuation of the $7,500 IRS tax credit for clean vehicles. Unfortunately, the elimination of that credit later in 2025 has prompted a reassessment of their pricing structure, with the new starting figure now pegged at $24,950. This pricing still positions the Slate Truck as a competitive option in the burgeoning electric vehicle market, particularly for those contemplating a future upgrade to an SUV or fastback variant.
