In a significant development in the field of longevity research, a historic milestone has been achieved with the first human receiving therapy aimed at rejuvenating aging cells. Boston-based biotechnology startup Life Biosciences has announced the commencement of a landmark clinical trial, transitioning from animal studies to human application.
This pioneering therapy targets the eye, chosen for its relatively contained potential side effects compared to other organs. Utilizing three Yamanaka factors, the treatment aims to restore a youthful cellular state and is specifically focused on regenerating damaged optic nerve cells. While the primary aim of this trial is to assess safety, it marks the inaugural real-world evaluation of cellular rejuvenation techniques in humans, potentially paving the way for future advancements in age-related therapies.
