In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have been rapidly advancing, and their impact on users' daily work is becoming increasingly apparent. Recent studies conducted by researchers at Harvard University have demonstrated that AI agents can drastically cut down the time required to perform various tasks.
The study compared two methods of information retrieval: Perplexity Search and traditional Computer Search. It was found that traditional search methods take significantly longer — up to 4.5 hours to solve tasks, while AI agents can accomplish similar assignments in just 36 minutes. This efficiency is achieved because AI can autonomously plan and execute tasks, significantly reducing the burden on users.
The researchers also evaluated how the complexity of queries and the human role in the process are changing. It turned out that with the introduction of AI, users are becoming less reliant on traditional search methods, allowing them to focus on more critical aspects of their work.
Thus, AI agents not only expedite task completion but also change the approach to work, freeing up time for creative and strategic activities.
